Parking Garages

For this contract, a new 3-level precast parking structure with 364 parking spaces and a combination of 45-dgree and 90-degree parking spaces will be built on the current Parking Lot F on campus. The garage will be designed for future expansion to 5 levels, increasing the total parking capacity to 636 spaces within the garage. Guidon Design is the A/E firm partnering with Jarrett Construction on this project.

For this project, the existing structures and foundations for 7 parking lots will be demoed and cleared to ready the site for construction. We will then design and construct a 6-level single helix parking garage with two-way traffic circulation. A new surface parking lot will also be provided to provide 24 additional parking spaces. Guidon Design is the A/E firm partnering with Jarrett Construction on this project.

This design-bid-build, multiple phase project included constructing a new temporary gravel parking lot in the first phase, followed by the construction of the parking garage in the second phase. The garage portion involved the construction of a 173,294SF, 5-level, 469-space pre-cast parking garage, with pre-topped tee(s) with thin-set brick spandrels and stair tower walls. The garage construction included site demolition, utility relocations and modifications to support the new garage, new electric traction elevator with two elevator shafts, 2 stair towers, heat tracing on the piping systems for freeze protection, security cameras, and car charging stations for electric vehicles.

Design-build services were completed to provide fall protection, a structural steel barrier fencing, on the existing parking garage that coordinated with the existing structure and aesthetics. There was already some fall protection designed and installed under a separate design-build contract on the garage by Jarrett Construction. The scope under this contract was to complete portions of the work deleted from the previous contract. Any area with a fall risk of 8 feet or greater that currently lacked fall protection was addressed.

In 2018 Jarrett Construction was awarded an $8,010,000 contract to build a 3-level, 362-space parking deck for the Fort McPherson VA Clinic in Atlanta, Georgia. The project was progressively descoped and subsequently canceled due to unforeseen site conditions and internal VA issues related to temporary parking.

Project include the construction of a four-story, precast parking structure on the southwest edge of campus, directly to the southwest of the existing Mental Health Clinic Building 106. It has 418 parking spaces and is 140,478 SF. Key features of the structure include fire protection (alarm and suppression), suicide prevention fencing, security cameras integrated with the VA’s existing security monitoring system, blue call boxes for emergencies, and parking control. All applicable ATFP standards were considered in the design.

We also expanded and repaved the existing parking lot and relocated and rebuilt a major roadway that acts as the back entrance to the hospital. Total, we repaved 8,000 SF for the parking lot. Full-depth roadway construction for the road totaled 36,400 SF.

This design-bid-build project included the construction of a 105,700 SF, 3-level, 300-space, pre-cast parking garage with a stair tower with two (2) elevators at the VA Trinka Davis Veterans Village in Carrollton, GA. Work also included general construction, alterations, roads, walks, grading, drainage, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, necessary removal of existing structures, and certain other items.
